Established as a public middle school in 2011, South End Middle School sits in the heart of this historic Springfield neighborhood. This grade 6 – 8 school is a true neighborhood school of 250 students, all whom live within walking distance of the building.  During the 2018 – 2019 school year, the South End Middle School community engaged in a rigorous, wide-ranging process of reflection, research, and planning in order to dramatically increase the achievement of its students.  South End Middle School tells students each day to “Strive for Excellence”. With the assistance and guidance of a community of stakeholders including local agencies, community representatives, families, and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education working side by side with the school to implement its comprehensive sustainable improvement plan, South End Middle School students and staff will not only strive for excellence, but achieve it.
